US reports more than 4,000 COVID-19 deaths in one day — a new record

The US shattered the record for new daily coronavirus deaths Friday, as the number of national cases crosses the 300,000 mark, according to a report.

On Thursday, the daily death toll hit an all-time high — more than 4,000.

As of mid-day Saturday, the country has had 21.9 million confirmed cases and 367,500 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
