Man arrested trespassing in Ocasio-Cortez’s Queens office

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

A trespasser was arrested Saturday in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s office in Queens, police said.

Cops found the man, 27, at around 4:40 p.m. holding a fire extinguisher on the third floor of a building at 74-09 37th Ave. in Jackson Heights.

While officers watched, the man discharged a fire extinguisher in the building. He then fled into a utility closet, armed with a broken bottle.

Cops got him out of the closet, and took him to Elmhurst Hospital for evaluation.

Charges are pending against the man, said police. His identity was not released.

Ocasio-Cortez opened the office in March. It’s upstairs from a deli and a home care agency.

She’d hoped to take over the space used by her predecessor, Rep. Joe Crowley. But when she found its rent was too high, she chose to build a new space in the building on 37th Ave.
