A SHOPLIFTER who stole £800 worth of items from a business in Rowley Regis has been jailed.

Zoe Bending admitted to seven counts of shoplifting and one count of criminal damage during October and January.

The 49-year-old, of Vicarage Road, Oldbury, stole various items including food, cleaning products and alcohol from One Stop Retail.

She was arrested on January 21 and subsequently charged and at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Monday January 22 she was sentenced to six months in jail.

She was also ordered to pay £500 in compensation for damaging a white Renault Clio.

Inspector for Sandwell South, Wes Smith, said: “Bending’s shoplifting was targeted to one store.

“As well as the financial impact, it was also distressing for the staff so we are pleased to see her behind bars.

“I would urge the public to continue reporting incidents of shoplifting to us and we will continue to take action.”
