If you go down to the beach today, you could be in for a big surprise.

Or at least Harvey the Border Collie was when he discovered an eight-inch dildo in the sand.

The four-year-old dog was enjoying one of his daily walks along Mount Batten Beach in Plymouth when he found the sex toy.

Owner Tracy Rendle and her 24-year-old daughter Hayley said they ‘burst out laughing’ when they realised what he’d chanced upon.

Harvey was too embarrassed to make a comment when approached by Metro.co.uk.

Pharmacy counter assistant Tracy, from Plympton, Devon, said: ‘I took one glance at it as we were walking along and thought “what the hell is that?” then it suddenly clicked.

‘Hayley and I thought it was hilarious and burst out laughing while Harvey wouldn’t look at it.

‘He’s very sensible and usually loves photos but he just looks so embarrassed in this picture.

‘I tried a couple of times to get a decent picture of him but he just wouldn’t pose properly.

‘I’ve not a clue how it got there – but it usually means somebody’s been having a good time.’

Keen beachcomber Tracy, who regularly collects sea glass pebbles on the shoreline, said it was the first time she and Harvey had discovered something so unusual out on a walk.

Mum-of-two Tracy said: ‘I’ve been beachcombing about six months. I first got into it after seeing how lovely the sea glass is online.

‘Thankfully Harvey didn’t pick it up, he couldn’t even look at what we found, and didn’t like being pictured with it at all.
