Earlier this year, Montauk local Tanish Lindsay started a one-woman protest in the East End village against the deaths of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.
On Monday, she was joined on a march through its streets by hundreds of locals — and a slew of celebs including Julianne Moore, Sienna Miller, Naomi Watts, Cynthia Rowley and Christy Turlington. We’re told that after Lindsay began to get some local support, she organized Love at the End Montauk, a peaceful march for Black Lives Matter.
“There was some resistance, partially because small businesses didn’t want Main Street closed down for the march, but it keeps growing,” a community member told Page Six.
“The goal for Love at the End march for Black Lives Matter is to educate my community that racism exists here, that black people and immigrants are being treated unfairly and paid poorly, and to bring our loving town together to eliminate this inequity and unkindness,” Lindsay said.
“People come to Montauk to escape from the realities of their city lives, but we cannot escape racism unless we confront it here and everywhere.”
