Vanessa Feltz claims her husband of 12 years has never seen her without makeup

Vanessa Feltz and her hubby Ben Ofoedu have been married for 12 years, however she claims he has never seen her without make up on.

The pair spoke on Loose Women about their secret to a successful marriage and revealed it involves separate bedrooms and Vanessa always having her face done up.

According to the 56-year-old (and this pains us to write) having smudged eyeliner under your eyes in the morning is better than a makeup free face.

She said: ‘When I was a teenager my sister and I discussed this and I think smudged eyeliner the day after is better than no makeup whatsoever.’

Vanessa then went on and joked with the audience telling them not to try it at home – and please don’t.

Talking about her beau the radio presenter called him a ‘sensitive soul’ and believed he might get a shock if he saw her without any makeup on.

‘I think he’s a sensitive soul he’s quite young and I think he’d have a shock,’ she added: ‘I’ve been drawing these lips on for 12 years.’

Ben agreed and even confessed that she wore bright red lipstick while on a swimming date.

The 45-year-old teased: ‘I wouldn’t know who she was [without makeup].’

Before adding: ‘I didn’t notice until like two years in [that she always wore makeup], and then I was in a swimming pool and she was wearing bright red lipstick.

‘I thought it was a bit weird.’

Vanessa confessed that her beauty traits are probably down to her mum who told told her to keep up the mystique of her appearance.

Her mother apparently told her to ‘never shave her legs in front of her other half or put any of that intimate stuff on display, otherwise you just become roommates.’

But unlike other couples who share a bedroom, Vanessa and Ben have their own, which probably makes it easier for her to hide a makeup free face.

Ben joked: ‘I have visiting rights,’ and she replied: ‘I have right of refusal.’

Before adding: ‘It has kept it fresh and sexy in a mysterious kind of way. Twelve years later it still works.’
