Aberdeen Collects Stocking Stuffers For Deployed Police Officer

Special stockings will be sent to Aberdeen Police Officer Jessica McDougall, who is currently deployed with the U.S. Navy.

ABERDEEN, NJ —Want to bring some holiday cheer to deployed soldiers or a veteran currently in the hospital? Well, here’s your chance.

Aberdeen Township is seeking donations for “Stockings for Soldiers” and will be collecting everything from beef jerky to books to fully-stuffed stockings that will be distributed to soldiers and veterans prior to the holiday season. Please make sure all items are new and any food items are not expired.

Special stockings will also be sent to Aberdeen Police Officer Jessica McDougall, who is currently deployed with the U.S. Navy, and her troops.

All donations can be dropped off at Aberdeen Town Hall, located at 1 Aberdeen Square, until Saturday, Nov. 23. This initiative is made possible through a partnership with the non-profit organization Soldiers’ Angels.

Accepted donation items include:
Holiday stockings (at least 19 inches)
Slim Jims
Beef jerky
Granola bars
Single serving drink mix packets (i.e., Crystal Light, Gatorade, and iced tea)
Hot chocolate packets
Apple cider packets
Playing cards
Puzzle books (crosswords, sudoku, word find)
Pens and pencils (can be holiday-themed)
Notepads
Holiday candy (in sealed wrapping or small unopened bags)
Candy canes
Peanut brittle
Socks (calf-high)
Travel-sized or handheld games
Card games (Uno, Phase 10)
Stress balls (holiday-themed preferred)
Gloves (preferably black; one size fits all)

Single serving cookie packages
Lip balm
Winter Caps (Aberdeen will be using these to seal the top of each stocking)
Travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and toothpaste
Toothbrushes
Travel-sized or individual Tylenol/Advil
Blank postcards
Ziploc quart-sized bags
Cards/letters
Do not include the following items:
Glass (containers, ornaments, etc.)
Sharp objects (safety pins, razors)
Products containing alcohol (some mouthwash and colognes)
Aerosols
Hand sanitizer
