Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park will remain closed over the weekend due to current conditions and expected weather over the weekend, Rocky Mountain National Park spokesperson Kyle Patterson said in a press release.

Snow is predicted to start falling on Saturday night and continue throughout the day on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. The predicted high for Sunday is 22 degrees, and at night it could be as cold as 12 degrees.

The road is currently closed at Rainbow Curve on the east side and Colorado River Trailhead on the west side, Patterson said.

Trail Ridge Road was closed last weekend due to snow as well.

Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the United States, with a peak elevation of 12,183 feet. It historically closes for the winter in mid-to-late October and reopens around Memorial Day.
