ST. LOUIS – A balloon release took place Sunday in memory of the late St. Louis County Councilwoman Hazel Erby. She was the first African-American woman on the county council.

The University Township Democratic Organization hosted the tribute at Fogerty Park in University City.

Erby died of pancreatic cancer on July 2. She was 75 years old.
