San Clemente-based Crossover Health has opened three clinics in the Inland Empire designed to provide healthcare services to thousands of local Amazon workers.

The Neighborhood Health Centers opened this week in San Bernardino, Eastvale and Moreno Valley.

Crossover and Amazon so far have collaborated on 17 centers in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; Phoenix; Louisville, Kentucky, and Detroit.

Crossover, which manages and staffs the centers for self-insured Amazon, said they offer an array of services including acute, chronic, and preventive primary care, same-day pediatrics, prescriptions, vaccinations, behavioral health services, physical therapy, health coaching, and guidance on care for specialty referrals and diagnostic services. Online services are also available.

Amazon last October reported nearly 20,000 employees had contracted coronavirus at its facilities and Whole Foods grocery stores. The company has nearly 1.4 million workers nationwide. In late 2020, the state’s Department of Industrial Relations fined Amazon $1,870 for failing to train workers at two Southern California warehouses on how to reduce COVID-19 exposure.

Derek Rubino, senior program manager, Workplace Health & Safety Special Programs at Amazon, said the company’s “top priority is the health and wellness of our employees.”

We asked Amazon and Crossover Health for details on the clinics. Their answers have been edited for length.

Q: How many Amazon employees will these health centers serve?
