BIRMINGHAM, AL β€” Nearly two weeks have passed since Trussville resident Paighton Houston was last seen, and her family and friends still cling to hope that she will be found safe. A reward totaling $10,000 has been offered for her return.

Houston's disappearance comes just months after searches for 3-year-old Kamille McKinney of Birmingham and Aniah Blanchard of Homewood ended with tragic results. Gov. Kay Ivey issued a statement over the weekend offering $5,000 in the case, and lamenting what has seemed like a trend of missing female victims.

"Unfortunately, another female is missing in the state of Alabama. The whereabouts of Paighton Laine Houston have been unknown since Friday, December 20," Ivey said. "In the midst of the busy holiday season, it is critical that we support Paighton, her family and law enforcement to ensure we do everything possible to bring her home. I am issuing a $5,000 reward to help encourage anyone with credible information to contact the appropriate authorities and help make that happen."
