China Three Gorges Starts Operation at Wudongde Hydro Station

China Three Gorges Corp. started commercials operations at its Wudongde hydropower project, which will be one of the world’s largest when it reaches full capacity.

Two of the plant’s units, each with capacity of 850 megawatts, have finished testing and were connected to the grid as of Monday, according to official Xinhua News Agency, adding that all 12 turbines will be in operation by 2021.
