Service Dog That Went Missing In Woburn Has Been Found

See the video of the Vietnam Vet from Woburn being reunited with his buddy Sam.

WOBURN, MA -- Sam, the service dog for William "Chuck" Colacchio, a Green Beret who served in Vietnam, has been found. Sam was found Friday in Mary Cummings Park after more than a week that included hundreds of social media posts and shares, a aerial search by drone with an infrared-equipped camera and volunteers scouring woods near the intersection of Cambridge and Bedford Roads in Woburn, where Sam went missing last Thursday night.

Sam was reportedly a bit thinner than the last time he was seen but in good condition. A video (see below) posted on Facebook by Woburn, MA - Lost & Found Pets shows the reunion between Colacchio and the 85-pound Ridgeback and hound mix.

The search for Sam had extended into neighboring communities, including Lexington and Burlington but there had been no reported sightings in a week that was marked with cold temperatures and Thursday's heavy rains. Of particular concern was that Sam was dragging his leash when he went missing, which raised fears that he could become trapped.
