Andy Howe’s appointment is viewed as an important step.

The club recently appointed former Reading and Celtic transfer guru Nicky Hammond to take up a consultancy role on a short-term basis.

Although Hammond is not understood to have a direct role in player identification he is said to be key in assessing the valuations of potential signings to ensure the new owners are not being over-charged.

Co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi is taking a lead role alongside Eddie Howe and head of recruitment Steve Nickson in negotiating deals during the transfer window.

The club are identifying a new long-term director of football and want to add further expertise to their recruitment and negotiating team.
