DuPage County Judge Removed From Office, Must Surrender Firearms After Loaded Gun Discharged In Home: Cops

Judge Patrick J. O'Shea, 67, of the 200 block of Willow Rd, was removed from office after he was charged with reckless conduct last month.

WHEATON, IL — A gun-related charge has stripped a DuPage County judge of his position. Judge Patrick J. O'Shea, 67, of the 200 block of Willow Road, was charged with reckless conduct after a loaded gun went off in his home.

Police arrested O'Shea Friday and ordered him to surrender all his firearms and permits to police. The arrest stems from a complaint warrant that was issued following the incident. According to a press release from the Wheaton Police Department, the complaint warrant asserts that O'Shea behaved in a reckless manner when "a loaded gun was discharged within his residence."

On Monday, DuPage County Circuit Court banned O'Shea from unrestricted courthouse access and relieved him of "all judicial duties until further order of the court," Chicago Tribune reports.
