Consensus five-star prospect Cole Anthony on his visit to North Carolina

Cole Anthony, another in a long line of great high school basketball players from New York City, announced recently that he will be attending North Carolina in the fall.

Anthony is the son of former New York Knick and NBA broadcaster Greg Anthony.

Born in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Anthony, a point guard, is a consensus top-three prospect in the country, who attends basketball prep powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Virginia.

The 6-foot-3 Anthony, who played at Archbishop Molloy before transferring to Oak Hill, reportedly chose the Tar Heels and coach Roy Williams over Georgetown, Notre Dame and Oregon.

“I always wanted to play on the highest level,” Anthony told the New York Post in a recent interview. “They have a winning culture, and I want to be a part of it.”

Some of Anthony’s biggest accomplishments: 1) Averaged a triple-double at Oak Hill. 2) MVP of the McDonald’s All-American Game. 3) MVP of the Jordan Brand Classic. 4) Was part of Team USA’s U-18 gold-medal team in the FIBA Americas.

“He’s maybe the most complete guard I ever recruited at this stage of his career, and I think he can get better,” Williams told The Post. “That’s the fun part.”
