Auburn analyst Al Borges has been named the offensive coordinator at UTSA, the school announced on Friday.

"I am thrilled to be able to announce the hiring of Al Borges as our new offensive coordinator," UTSA head coach Frank Wilson said in a release. "Al Borges has a masterful offensive mind and a coaching style that takes advantage of the talent and skillset of the players on the roster. His unique ability to develop quarterbacks is second to none. Our coaching staff got better today."

Borges' hire was first reported by Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldman.

Borges, a two-time Broyles Award finalist, spent the last season as an offensive analyst on Gus Malzahn's staff and was used as a "sounding board" for first-year offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey.

Borges previously served as the offensive coordinator at San Jose State from 2015-16. Prior to that, he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Michigan from 2011-13 and was a one-time offensive coordinator at Auburn from 2004-07, including during the Tigers' undefeated campaign in 2004.
