LAKE COUNTY, IL — A fugitive rammed a Lake County Sheriff's Office squad car while trying to flee from deputies on Thursday but was later arrested, according to authorities. The Lake County Sheriff's Office Warrants team and the U.S. Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force were conducting surveillance at a home in the 2300 block of North Lewis Avenue in Zion when they spotted Jayvion C. Scott, 21, of the 300 block of Birchwood Drive in Antioch.

Scott was wanted on a $2 million warrant for aggravated battery with a firearm and other charges. Deputies watched as Scott got into his vehicle before deputies surrounded the vehicles, attempting to take him into custody at about 1:15 p.m, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Scott then rammed the squad car and drove through a front yard. His vehicle sustained a punctured tire, causing it to deflate, according to the news release.

During a police pursuit, Scott lost control of his vehicle in the area of Lewis Avenue near Russell Road in Zion Township, according to authorities. He hit a guardrail and deputies were able to position their vehicle to prevent Scott from fleeing.

He did not comply with orders to get out of his vehicle and he had to be extracted from the vehicle by warrants deputies, police said.

One member of the warrants team sustained a cut on his arm during the arrest and while getting Scott of the vehicle. He was treated at an area hospital, received several stitches and was later released, authorities said.

Scott was taken to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan for an evaluation where he was evaluated and released back into custody. He faces the following additional charges: aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting a peace officer causing injury, criminal damage to government property, aggravated fleeing and eluding and numerous traffic citations.

"While all of our staff face potential danger every day, our warrants deputies risk their lives apprehending some of the most violent wanted subjects," Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said. "This is an example of someone accused of violent crimes who did everything he could to avoid apprehension. His unacceptable actions ultimately caused injuries to a task force officer, and he will be held accountable.”
