They might be underclassmen, but somebody forgot to tell McKee/Staten Island Tech’s Colin Elias and Tottenville’s Sam Demeri.

Elias and Demeri place first and second, respectively, at the PSAL Individual Golf championships Wednesday at Split Rock Golf Course in Bronx.

Elias, a freshman, was crowned champion after firing a 7-over par 77. Elias finished with birdies on the 8th and 14th holes, both of which are par-4s. In addition, the frosh finished at par eight times, including four times apiece on the front and back nine.

Demeri, meanwhile, finished second with a 10-over par 80. The sophomore had birdies on the 9th (par-4) and 13th (par-5) holes. Demeri finished at par seven times, including four on the back nine.

By finishing in the Top six spots, both Elias and Demeri qualified for the state Federation tournament.

MSIT senior Kristian Marino was the next best finisher from the Island, recording a 90 to place 10th overall.

Other Island finishers included Greg D’Aniello (15th, 94); MSIT’s Brennan Kane (17th, 99); Susan Wagner’s Ryan Nix (21st, 105); MSIT’s Nathan Wai (26th, 112) and Petrides’ Marissa Dantoni (34th, 132).
