A WINCHESTER depot that’s been unused for years has been taken over by Hampshire Police.
The gates of the former goods shed in Barfield Close, Bar End, were left open, revealing a large number of marked and unmarked police cars.
The vehicles are parked just down the road from one of the police workshops, with the force having a collection of workshops across the county.
The site was revamped several weeks ago with new gates and many yards of razor wire on top of the fencing.
Hampshire Police released this statement: "We can confirm that, since November 2023, we have been using a secure site in Bar End as part of our work to decommission police vehicles that are no longer being used operationally. This is routine work that does not affect our ability to respond to incidents or the service we provide to communities."
