STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY responded to a gas leak in Rosebank on Tuesday morning that prompted the evacuation of 43 people.

The incident was called at about 9:05 a.m. as a gas line was struck in the vicinity of Hope Avenue and Beethoven Street, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.

“The gas leak was the result of third-party contractor damage to a gas service line,” said a statement from National Grid. “National Grid arrived on scene and the area was made safe. There were no injuries and no service interruptions.”

The non-fire emergency prompted an “all-hands” response of 12 units and 60 firefighters to bring the incident under control at 10:16 a.m., according to the FDNY spokesman and a post on the FDNY Twitter feed.
