Jessica Ruley, 28, from Idaho, was heading to the pool with her family one afternoon when she noticed her sister, Aimee Katsma, had folded her towel around her waist in a very peculiar way.

Trying the trick herself, Jessica realized the method worked and her towel was securely wrapped around her waist.

Instead of tucking one corner of the towel inside and hoping that it holds, Jessica explains that the better method involves wrapping the towel across your body, before folding the top down completely around your waist to secure it.  

In the video, Jessica's sisters Aimee and Melissa can be seen jumping and dancing around with towels around their waist - which remained wrapped securely despite moving around so much.

The video has since gone viral, gaining over 5.3 million views as users praised Jessica for the genius hack.

Speaking about the towel hack, Jessica said: 'My sisters and I were heading down to the pool and one of my sisters folded her towel that way, and we all questioned her. Her husband taught her that method.

'We tried it right after and discovered the towel really doesn't slip or fall off!

'We purposely walked goofy to test if it was really fool-proof.

'I never thought this video would go viral as we were just messing around.

'I do realize some people already knew about this trick; however, it was new to us! I hope to make more fun videos in the future that can maybe help others!'
