6 dogs found after being left to freeze on side of Long Island road

A cold-hearted mutt left six pooches to die on the side of a Long Island road as an Arctic blast walloped the region, according to police Wednesday.

Two of the pups — ages 1 to 5 — were found chained and the other four were locked in cages in a field near Toppings Path off County Road 111 in Manorville around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Suffolk police.

Even the water in their bowls was frozen as temperatures sank to 25 degrees Fahrenheit, police said.

The pooches –– three beagles and three bloodhounds –– were taken to Animal Emergency Services.

Police are investigating how long the dogs were left unattended.

Their conditions were not immediately known.
