The Audo: Copenhagen's latest hybrid hotel

After this long period of isolation, the Audo’s purpose now feels deeply resonant: to connect and help people build a stronger community. This next-generation hybrid hangout is, unsurprisingly, found in Copenhagen, the most sustainably minded, energy-efficient city in Europe. The Audo is not just a place to stay, or a lifestyle store, or somewhere for a coffee or to thrash out business ideas. It’s an elevated hybrid, with an ergonomic wellness bent and a cooperative spirit.

Here, founder and former CEO of design firm MENU Bjarne Hansen teamed up with Norm Architects, focusing on creating tactile interiors. It took them months to find the right wooden floors and colours for the walls that would have a positive effect on customers’ wellbeing. Every space is characterised by a different aesthetic: the downstairs café and work area are both open, light and engaging, while bedrooms are darker and more sheltering.
