CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Rink at Wade Oval will open on Friday, Dec. 3, welcoming ice skaters to Wade Oval for another winter season.
The ice skating rink will stay open through Sunday, Feb. 27, according to a press release. Skating costs $2 for adults, with $3 rentals while students get a discount to $1 admission and $2 skate rentals. The Rink at Wade Oval is presented by PNC.
Ice skaters can also visit other University Circle attractions and get discounts with their skating wristbands, according to a press release. The Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Museum of Natural History and Cleveland History Center will offer $2 off same-day admission, and the Cleveland Museum of Art’s cafe will offer a 10% discount for skaters.
“Many of us have a tendency to stay indoors during the winter months but The Rink in Wade Oval is a fun way to get outside and enjoy the winter weather with family and friends,” said PNC regional president of Cleveland Pat Pastore in a press release. “In addition to skating, many visit the museums and restaurants in the University Circle area, which provides a boost to the neighborhood economy.”
Beyond the ice skating, hot cocoa, coffee and snacks will be available for purchase from a concession stand. Some events will also take place at the Rink, including its “Pink the Rink” Valentine’s Day attraction, and free skating hours on Presidents Day and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, according to a press release.
The biggest event at the Rink will take place its opening weekend: Holiday CircleFest, set for Sunday, Dec. 5. The neighborhood event will feature an outdoor holiday market, ice carving demonstrations, horse-drawn carriage rides around Wade Oval, photos with Santa and live music, according to a press release. Holiday CircleFest will also include discounted and free admission into area museums.
