Hillary Clinton writes political thriller closely mirroring her life

Cue the late-night jokes.

Hillary Clinton has penned a political thriller titled “State of Terror” about a fictional secretary of state, she revealed Tuesday.

In a statement first reported by Axios, the former Obama secretary of state and failed 2016 presidential candidate announced that the book would be released in October by Simon & Schuster and St. Martin’s Press.

In the novel, “a novice Secretary of State joins the administration of her rival.

“A series of terrorist attacks throws the global order into disarray, and the Secretary is tasked with assembling a team to unravel the deadly conspiracy, a scheme carefully designed to take advantage of an American government dangerously out of touch and out of power in the places where it counts the most,” the synopsis reads.

While the book is listed as fiction, it appears the story will mirror Clinton’s real life in numerous respects.

Clinton wrote the novel with Louise Penny, an author and her longtime friend. Some of Penny’s past works include “The Cruelest Month” and “The Brutal Telling.”

“Writing a thriller with Louise is a dream come true,” the former secretary of state said in a statement, “I’ve relished every one of her books and characters as well as her friendship.”

“Now we’re joining our experiences to explore the complex world of high stakes diplomacy and treachery. All is not as it first appears.”

Clinton is not the first in her family to pen a novel. Former President Bill Clinton teamed up with author James Patterson for the 2018 political thriller “The President is Missing.”

The two have another novel in the works, titled “The President’s Daughter,” set to be released this June.
