Bookmakers are offering bets on who will be Alex Trebek’s replacement as the host of “Jeopardy!” — including long-shot candidates such as President Trump.
The commander-in-chief is included in a list of the top 30 possible replacements offered on Sports Betting, with other unlikely contenders including Piers Morgan and UFC commentator Joe Rogan.
Unsurprisingly, Greatest of All Time “Jeopardy!” winner Ken Jennings — who was recently brought in as a consulting producer and brand ambassador — remains the clear favorite to take the hot seat. With even odds, gamblers would win $100 for every $100 they bet.
“It will be Ken Jennings – no question,” Sean Moore tweeted alongside an online list also making him the favorite. “He was brought on board as a consultant and I’m sure he will be new host.”
Another commentator, Kyle Stevens, tweeted, “We all know it’s going to be Ken. The rest of the names are just there for entertainment.”
Jennings’ keenest competition on Sports Betting comes from “Good Morning America” host George Stephanopoulos, 59, who has reportedly already been lobbying for the job. He’d also be doing his backers a favor, winning $325 for every $100 they bet if he got hired.
Rounding up the top five favorites for bookmakers are LeVar Burton, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak, who would get backers $1,600 for every $100 bet.
Meanwhile, Trump — No. 30 on the list — would help his backers make a fortune, with them winning $100,000 for every $100 they bet if he went from the White House to “Jeopardy!”
James Holzhauer — one of the greatest-ever “Jeopardy!” champs — comes in at 29th place on the list, with +2500 odds, likely because he lacks charisma, Sports Betting’s Adam Burns told the Toronto Sun.
Other long-shot bets include actress Rosie Perez and talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, as well as UFC commentator-turned-podcast king Joe Rogan, who’d win his backers $6,600 for every $100 they bet on him.
Other long shots include Jon Stewart making his TV return, as well as former “America’s Got Talent” judge Piers Morgan.
“The idea of Piers Morgan becoming the Jeopardy host is terrifying. Like exchanging a diamond for a turd,” one not-a-fan tweeted in reply to a list circulating on Twitter.
Sports Betting’s Burns predicted that the show would not pick “someone to be another Alex Trebek” — and that gamblers could be in for a nervous wait.
“They’re probably going to take a little while to make sure to pick the right choice,” he told the Toronto Sun.
