Media Matters, a left-wing organization funded by socialist billionaire George Soros, has hired former New Yorker fact checker Talia Lavin, who falsely accused a disabled veteran of being a Nazi to cover “far-right extremism.”

The Wrap reported that Media Matters had hired former New Yorker fact checker Talia Lavin “less than a month after she left the magazine over a tweet falsely accusing a disabled ICE employee of having a Nazi tattoo.”

In June, Lavin claimed a disabled veteran who now works for ICE was a Nazi, alleging that he had a German Iron Cross tattoo on his elbow.

The tattoo, however, turned out to be “the symbol for his platoon while he fought in Afghanistan.”

“Anyone attempting to advance their personal political opinions by baselessly slandering an American hero should be issuing public apologies to Mr. Gaertner and retractions,” declared ICE in a statement following the incident, prompting Lavin to resign.

Lavin announced she would be joining Media Matters on Friday, posting, “I’m delighted to be joining Media Matters (@mmfa) next week as a researcher on far-right extremism and the alt-right, part of a brand-new team.”

“I’ll be working full-time with some of the smartest, most passionate people in media right now and I’m psyched,” she continued, receiving over 8,000 likes.

Media Matters has previously launched campaigns to “stop” Breitbart News, and has been secretly working with Facebook and Google to fight “fake news.”

Other targets of Media Matters have included Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham.

Despite being notorious for their advertisement boycott campaigns, Media Matters refused to campaign against MSNBC’s Joy Reid after homophobic comments surfaced.

Last year, Fox News’ Sean Hannity called Media Matters a “clear and present danger” to free speech.
