All flights out of LaGuardia, JFK airport suspended due to snowstorm

All flights out of LaGuardia and Kennedy Airport were suspended Monday morning amid massive snowfall across the New York region.

“All flight activity at #LGA has been suspended due to current weather conditions,” airport officials posted on Twitter.

“Airline carriers at #LGA have canceled all commercial flights for today.”

New York City and Long Island saw snow accumulations pick up to a pace of two inches per hour Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service said.

By noon, nearby John F. Kennedy Airport was also out of commission because of an “electrical issue,” Port director Rick Cotton said during Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s afternoon storm briefing.

New Jersey’s Newark Airport was still open as of noon, however — though only four flights remained on the schedule, Cotton said.
