The Arctic Monkeys have requested for the BBC to not premiere their Reading Festival set live this evening.

This year’s star-studded line-up includes arange of performances from the likes of The 1975, HalseyDave, Megan Thee Stallion, and Bring Me The Horizon.

The Alex Turner-fronted Sheffield band are set to perform on the main stage tonight from 9:50pm to 11:20pm, however, the broadcaster confirmed their set won’t be available for viewers to stream.

Sharing the news on Twitter, BBC Radio 1 shared: ‘At the artists request, we will not be able to bring you the Arctic Monkeys set live this evening.

‘But you will be able to watch them tomorrow on BBC One, from 23:35.’

The band – which consists of frontman Alex, Jamie Cook, Nick O’Malley, and Matt Helders have made special appearances at the festival before during their stellar career – and are expected to play some new tracks for the Reading crowd.

The AM fandom was sent into a frenzy after the rock group confirmed their upcoming album The Car will be out on October 21.

The band were reported to have stayed at Butley Priory, a former gatehouse to an Augustinian monastery, while they worked on their hotly-awaited follow-up with drummer Matt saying in late 2021 the band’s new record, their seventh, was ‘pretty much’ finished and, as he said at the time, likely to arrive before the 2022 tour began.

Matt previously revealed the Do I Wanna Know? rockerswere in the ‘early stages’ of trying to ‘write a [new] record’, but were ‘faced with various obstacles’ amid the pandemic.

He said: ‘Being separated by the sea is one of them.

‘We’re all eager to do it – we would have been doing it by now in a normal time.

‘There’s definitely a desire from our end to do a new record, as soon as we can.’

The Arctic Monkeys latest album, Tranquillity Base Hotel and Casino, was released back in 2018.
