The Los Angeles Unified School District is investigating an allegation of academic misconduct at Narbonne High.
A district spokeswoman confirmed via email that two staff members at the school have been reassigned.
“While all personnel matters are confidential, these allegations are extremely serious and upsetting,” the email statement read. “Los Angeles Unified remains committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.”
Narbonne principal Gerald Kobata told the Southern California News Group on Friday that he “cannot make any comments about it.”
City Section Commissioner John Aguirre said Monday that he was made aware of the investigation approximately two weeks ago. He said he doesn’t know which sport the athlete or athletes participate in.
“I really don’t have a lot of information,” Aguirre said. “We want to make sure what (the investigators) give me is factual and then we will take action.
“The most important things for me would be who is involved, the timeline and what will the consequences be.”
Aguirre said he hopes the investigation will be done before the end of the school year.
City Section baseball
There are three area teams still alive in the CIF L.A. City Section baseball playoffs and there is potential for an All-Marine League final in Division I.
In Division I, top-seeded Narbonne will face fifth-seeded Bell on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the first semifinal at USC. The second game of the Division I doubleheader will feature No. 3 Banning against No. 2 Marshall at 7 p.m. The winners advance to the championship game at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dodger Stadium.
If the Gauchos and Pilots meet in the final, it will be the third meeting this season. The teams split two games during the regular season.
In Division II, second-seed Port of Los Angeles hosts No. 10 Legacy on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
