Supernatural Guest Stars: 53 People You Forgot Were on the CW Series

Over the course of Supernatural's 15 seasons, a ton of familiar faces have stopped by The CW series. Click ahead to check out 53 people you probably forgot popped up on Supernatural and learn which episodes they first appeared in.

Adrianne Palicki appeared as Jessica, the first known victim of Sam Winchester's (Jared Padalecki) Death Peen in the series' pilot. And although she might best be known for her work on Friday Night Lights, she has gone on to do many awesome things since getting torched on the ceiling, including John Wick and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She is currently starring on Fox's The Orville.

A former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, Sarah Shahi appeared as Constance Welch, the Woman in White, in Supernatural's pilot before going on to star in the USA series Fairly Legal and the beloved CBS drama Person of Interest.

He's Negan from The Walking Dead, he's whatshisface from Grey's Anatomy, he's the Comedian from Watchmen, and he's everyone's favorite awful father, John Winchester from Supernatural. (We personally loved Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Starz's short-lived mobster period drama Magic City.) Basically, there's a Jeffrey Dean Morgan role for everyone. And we're still glad he returned for the show's 300th episode.

They grow up so fast! Alden Ehrenreich came to Supernatural back in 2005 as Ben Collins, a scared hiker who was being hunted by a cannibalistic uber-predator. Of course, you might better recognize him from Solo: A Star Wars Story, Beautiful Creatures, or Blue Jasmine.

The late Cory Monteith was not breaking into song and dance as Gary, another one of the hapless hikers chased by the monster-of-the-week in Season 1's "Wendigo." He would go on to play musical jock Finn Hudson on Glee.

Amy Acker first captured our hearts as Winifred "Fred" Burkle on The WB's Angel, but after the series was canceled in 2004, she popped up as hot mom Andrea Barr in "Dead in the Water." Since then, she has appeared on How I Met Your Mother and had recurring roles on Alias, Person of Interest, and Suits.

After Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel but before Dexter, Julie Benz became an early member of the Supernatural Lonely Hearts Club as Layla Rourke in the Season 1 episode "Faith." Layla was a cancer-stricken woman hoping for a miracle from the revival preacher who was healing hopeless cases... with a little help from an enslaved reaper. Layla and Dean had chemistry, but this is Supernatural, and the show's gluttony for socking its viewership right in the feels was well-established even this early in its life.

The Fast and the Furious alum was all "business up front, party in the back" as Ash, the Roadhouse's resident redneck genius in Season 2... until his demise at the hands of Azazel's demons.

After Supernatural killed off her character, the hunter Jo Harvelle, Alona Tal joined the cast of another creepy CW show, Cult. She then had a recurring role Burn Notice and enjoyed a recurring role on SEAL Team.

Sterling K. Brown has appeared in a slew of TV shows since Sam Winchester chopped his head off on Supernatural — calm down, Brown played a vampire, Gordon Walker! He won his first Emmy for portraying attorney Christopher Darden in FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson, and later picked up a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his performance in the NBC tear-jerker This is Us. Oh, and he also appeared in a little film you may have heard of called Black Panther.

Oh, hey look, another former Buffy cast member! Amber Benson played the witch Tara on The WB-turned-UPN vampire drama before taking on the role of the "vegetarian" vampire Lenore on Supernatural. She eventually joined the ranks of cool female characters who were killed. Because of course she did.

We like to think that Linda Blair is the crown jewel of Supernatural guest star appearances. She appeared in only one episode as Diana Ballard, one of the detectives who arrested Sam and Dean in the Season 2 episode "The Usual Suspects." It was early in the show's run and it wasn't even an amazing episode... but she's REGAN. From The Exorcist! 'Nuff said.

Taking a break from portraying Number Six on Battlestar Galactica, Tricia Helfer appeared in a 2007 episode of Supernatural playing a ghost named Molly who Sam and Dean meet on a dark highway. But Helfer is also a model who won the Supermodel of the World contest in 1992, has loaned her voice to the StarCraft video game series, and has appeared on the other beloved cult series Lucifer.

In "Heart," Emmanuelle Vaugier played Madison, yet another victim of Sam Winchester's Death Peen (and one of the first appearances of Dean Winchester's single man tear). She has also appeared in Smallville, Two and a Half Men, and had a recurring role in One Tree Hill as Jake's baby mama, Nicki.

Gary Cole channeled all the smarmy glory of his Office Space persona for skeezy Hollywood producer Brad Redding in "Hollywood Babylon." Cole has also appeared in films such as Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Talladega Nights, and One Hour Photo and loaned his voice talents to Harvey Birdman and Kim Possible.

When he wasn't busy playing Jake Talley and stabbing Sam Winchester in the back and kicking off the apocalypse (in a roundabout way), Aldis Hodge was appearing on Friday Night Lights as Ray "Voodoo" Tatum for six episodes. He's also appeared in Leverage, Underground, Black Mirror, and Hidden Figures. He's also appeared in two films in the Die Hard franchise... playing a different character each time.

Katie Cassidy was Ruby before Genevieve Padalecki was Ruby. She comes from a long line of TV talent, with David "I Think I Love You" Cassidy and Jack Cassidy, a prominent Broadway performer, being her dad and grand-dad, respectively. Post-Supernatural, Cassidy appeared in a recurring role on Gossip Girl and milked that sweet, sweet superhero fad as Laurel Lance/Black Canary in the Arrowverse.

Before ganking walkers as Maggie Greene on The Walking Dead, Lauren Cohan was dodging demons in Supernatural's third season as tragic thorn-in-the-Winchester's-side Bela Talbot. Supernatural's infamous history of sacrificing its women to the angry refrigerator gods meant that Bela was not long for this world, but at least we got to see her force Dean into a tux before she went.

Another Buffy alum! Mercedes McNab portrayed high school student-turned-vampire Harmony Kendall on Buffy the Vampire Slayer before digging her teeth into the vampire Lucy in Season 3's "Fresh Blood." She has also appeared in films Addams Family Values and Vipers.

We recognized that pagan Christmas god Edward Carrigan from his prior recurring role in the early 2000s awesomesauce that is The Invisible Man, where he played a leader of the show's primary antagonists, Chrysalis. We can't believe we remembered all of that without googling it. Garrett has also appeared in everything from The X-Files and Carnivale to Law & Order (but then again, who hasn't appeared on Law & Order?). His film credits include Thank You for Smoking, Charlie Wilson's War, and The Front Runner.

She was Genevieve Cortese in those days, replacing Katie Cassidy as Sam Winchester's demonic guide, Ruby, after her tenure on Wildfire wrapped up. Padalecki's main role these days is as mama to the three Padababies, but she took some time out of diaper-duty to parody herself with a guest-spot in Season 6's "The French Mistake" and then recently returned as Ruby in the final season.

When Supernatural wasn't busy casting Buffy alums, it was hiring Stargate alums! Although he memorably portrayed Sam and Dean's maternal grandfather, Samuel Campbell, Mitch Pileggi's ultimate geek-tv role, actually has to be Walter Skinner on The X-Files, Supernatural's widely acknowledged spiritual predecessor.

Your grandma might actually recognize Ashley Benson since she spent three years as a regular on Days of Our Lives. You certainly recognize her from Pretty Little Liars, on which she played Hanna Marin. But on Supernatural, she played Tracy Davis, a really old witch who had some bad ideas.

After he was Dammit Janet's fiancé, BRAD!, in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and after his turn as goofy Mayor Winston in Spin City, Bostwick appeared as Jay, an aging magician looking for his last great show in Supernatural's fourth season. Fun fact: Bostwick also originated the role of Danny Zuko when Grease first hit the stage in 1972. How dreamy!

Candice King appeared in the delightful Juno prior to appearing on Supernatural as Amanda Heckerling, a young woman Dean briefly dates in high school. Afterward, King would obviously go on to become a CW star, playing Caroline Forbes in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

Colin Ford doesn't actually exist. Time-travel is real and a Supernatural casting agent went back to like, 1990, and took a wee Jared Padalecki from the wilds of Texas (or, you know, the suburbs of San Antonio) and that's where Colin Ford came from to play young Sam Winchester. He has also appeared in Revolution, Under the Dome, and Daybreak.

A veritable "that guy," Kurt Fuller has made guest appearances on everything from Knight Rider and Quantum Leap to The West Wing and Psych. Does he sleep? On Supernatural, he played the high-ranking angel Zachariah, who was trusted with the task of getting Dean to allow Michael to possess him. Clearly, he didn't do a very good job.

Although playing God (aka Chuck Shurley) is a pretty big deal, we will actually forever associate Rob Benedict with the most accurate film to depict foodservice life ever, Waiting, in which he played the uptight server Calvin who couldn't pee in the public restroom. However, you might also know him from Felicity, where he played Richard, or as the lead singer of the band Louden Swain.

What hasn't Bellamy Young been in both before and after appearing as Sarah, the wife of Nick (Mark Pellegrino), who became Lucifer's vessel, in Season 5.

Titus Welliver, who's been in so many things you love, appeared on Supernatural as War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. In addition to his film roles in The Doors, Mulholland Falls, Argo, and Gone Baby Gone, he has also appeared as the Man in Black on Lost and in the title role on Amazon's Bosch.

It's always a family affair on Supernatural. Lexa Doig, who played one of Dean's followers Risa in the post-apocalyptic future, married Michael Shanks after appearing on Stargate SG-1. She also appeared on our favorite criminally underrated Canadian import, Continuum, and the early 2000s Gene-Roddenberry-show-that-isn't-Star-Trek, Andromeda.

Supernatural isn't Paris Hilton's only acting gig (remember when she popped up on Veronica Mars?) but it's super appropriate that in the show she was playing Leshii, a forgotten god possessing a wax statue on her homicidal quest for world domination, isn't it?

As Sheriff Jody Mills, Kim Rhodes is a regular guest star on The CW series, playing the surlier side of the Wayward Sisters partnership between Donna Hanscum (Briana Buckmaster) and Jody. She's previously appeared in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and on two different soap operas playing the same character: Cindy Harrison on As the World Turns and Another World.

Before Amanda Tapping's Naomi, there was Michael Shanks in one of the most depressing episodes of the most depressing season ever (Season 5) playing Rob, the dad of the Whore of Babylon. It's not a happy one, folks. Shanks also headlined a great many of Stargate SG-1's most emo episodes as Daniel Jackson.

British-born Canadian actor Julian Richings may be best known for playing everyone's favorite horseman, Death, but he has been appearing in film and television since the '80s, including appearances on The Tracey Fragments and Stephen King's miniseries, Kingdom Hospital.

What actor went to freaking Yale and appeared in episodes of Chuck, Castle, and both Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis? Robert Picardo, the man who played Wayne Whittaker Jr./The Leprechaun in the hilarious Season 6 episode "Clap Your Hands if You Believe." Trekkies (Trekkers? What do you want to be called these days?) will also recognize him as Star Trek: Voyager's Emergency Medical Hologram.

Freddie Krueger himself appeared in "Appointment in Samarra" as Dr. Robert, old family friend of the Winchesters.

Brian Doyle-Murray is the older brother of Bill Murray. He has received Emmy nominations for his work on Saturday Night Live and appeared in Ghostbusters II, Scrooged, Groundhog Day, Christmas Vacation, and Caddyshack, which are truly some of the funniest films made. This makes his appearance as Supernatural producer Robert Singer in one of the funniest Supernatural episodes ever entirely appropriate.

Yes, Jewel Staite is forever beloved by geekdom for starring as Kaylee Frye on Firefly and in its follow-up feature film, Serenity. But in "The Girl Next Door," she played Amy Pond (no, not that Amy Pond), an old friend of Sam's who also happened to be a kitsune. Most importantly, however, she was also Catalina in Space Cases on Nickelodeon in its glorious '90s heyday.

When they're not poaching horror film legends, Supernatural seems to have a thing for the former cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, casting both James Marsters (Spike!) and Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia!) as a warring witch couple on the verge of a nasty breakup in "Shut Up, Dr. Phil." Marsters has also appeared in Angel, Smallville, Caprica, and the grown-up Doctor Who spin-off, Torchwood.

In addition to witching it up on Supernatural with Buffy co-star James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter has appeared in Angel and The Expendables film series.

Who knew the weird dude from Freddy Got Fingered would become a rockstar "that guy" on everything from Supernatural to Amazon's alternate history drama The Man in the High Castle? The man who plays Garth also has excellent tats. Just sayin'.

Before he was Aaron Burr, Sir in the Room Where it Happened, Leslie Odom Jr. played the role of crossroad demon Guy in Supernatural's seventh season. Elsewhere, he was in productions of Rent and Dreamgirls, starred on the short-lived Smash, and even graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, which means he's like, really smart and stuff.

Meghan Ory is best known for her role as Red Riding Hood on Once Upon a Time, but she appeared as Sally, a vetala, in the Supernatural episode "Adventures in Babysitting." Her other television credits include Higher Ground, The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, and Hallmark's Chesapeake Shores.

Are we the only people who think Jason Dohring looks like a young Dana Carvey? Anyway, after appearing in Veronica Mars and Moonlight early in his career, Dohring has become something of a CW darling, having appeared in Ringer, The Tomorrow People, The Originals, and iZombie. On Supernatural, he played Chronos, the god of time.

Felicia Day is so deeply entrenched in all things geek that she basically is Charlie Bradbury. In addition to creating and starring in The Guild, she also appeared in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog alongside Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion. Recently, she played the slightly-more-competent half of Moon-13's mad scientist tag-team (with Patton Oswalt!) in the Netflix revival of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Amanda Tapping appeared in Sanctuary prior to showing up as Castiel's boss Naomi on Supernatural, but she's probably best known for playing Samantha Carter in the Stargate franchise.

Wayward Sister Briana Buckmaster made her Donna-tastic debut at a spa run by a bunch of fat-sucking monsters. Since then, she has appeared a number of times and nearly got to lead her own spin-off with Kim Rhodes' Jody Mills. She has also released an album and is a staple on the convention circuit.

Supernatural fan Snooki "It's Nicole now" Polizzi, of the Jersey Shore Snookis, portrayed a crossroads demon in Season 9. She has also made appearances on WWE Monday Night Raw and pretty much every Jersey Shore offshoot imaginable.

Lesley Nicol is most beloved as Mrs. Patmore in Downton Abbey, meaning she was no stranger to the kitchen when she appeared on Supernatural as a child-eating witch Katja. She's also appeared in Shameless, Hot in Cleveland, and Once Upon a Time.

Dee Wallace is one of several classic horror alumni to have appeared in Supernatural. Her credits include Cujo, Critters, the 1977 edition of The Hills Have Eyes and, of course, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. In Supernatural, she played Mildred Baker, a woman who had an experience with a ghost and who later helps take out a banshee.

The musician who memorably played Vince Vicente/Lucifer and famously gave us "Jessie's Girl" is no stranger to the thespian arts — he was appearing in soap operas in the '80s, and has also appeared in True Detective, Hawaii Five-0, and American Horror Story: Cult.

Danneel Ackles, who played Rachel Gatina on One Tree Hill, once said she would never guest-star on her husband's show, but it finally happened in Season 13, when she took on the role of an angel Anael.
