Teen Stabbed Younger Brother 15 Times At Montco Playground: DA

A 15-year-old is facing attempted murder charges after authorities said he stabbed his brother and sister at a local playground.

HATFIELD, PA — A 15-year-old is facing attempted murder charges after authorities said he stabbed his younger siblings on a Montgomery County playground Monday night.

The incident occurred behind Oak Park Elementary School, located on Squirrel Lane in Hatfield, at around 5:20 p.m.

The attacker stabbed his 13-year-old brother 15 times in the chest, back, face, neck, and hands, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

He also stabbed his 9-year-old sister multiple times in the head, according to police.

Video surveillance from the school recorded the entire incident, the DA's Office said. A knife was recovered from the scene.

When authorities arrived, they found the two children laying in the playground. The pair were taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. The boy underwent surgery and is in critical but stable condition. The girl was treated and released.

The attacker fled toward Oak Park Road and was found later at a nearby home, before being taken into custody.

He's charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and related counts. Bail was set at $500,000 and a preliminary hearing is set for March 9.
