WASHINGTON, D.C. - He’s done it again. The American Conservative Union says Rep. Jim Jordan, a Champaign County Republican, earned his 14th straight 100 percent rating on its yearly voting record rating of Congress members, an all-time record for a member of Congress over the 50 years it has issued ratings.
To come up with its ratings, the organization’s Center for Legislative Accountability examined votes it considered critical on issues relating to fiscal, tax, regulatory, education, environment, Second Amendment rights, election security, life, and government integrity.
In addition to recognizing Jordan, the organization said it will also give awards to members of the Ohio congressional delegation who achieved scores of 80 percent or higher. The members of Congress it will honor not-so-coincidentally represent some of the state’s safest Republican districts, according to a Cook Political Report rating of how much more Democratic or Republican a district performs compared to the nation’s average. The political report rates Jordan’s district R+14.
The group gave Ohio’s Republican U.S. Senator, Rob Portman, a 70 percent rating and Ohio’s Democratic U.S. Senator, Sherrod Brown, 9 percent.
Here’s how every U.S. House of Representatives member from Ohio was ranked by the American Conservative Union, and how Cook Political report ranks their districts.
