House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, speaking at a press conference on Capitol Hill about the order of succession to the presidency, referred to Attorney General Bill Barr, who resigned last month.
Pelosi was asked about whether she was concerned about the Cabinet secretaries who are reportedly considering leaving the administration over the riots carried out by supporters of President Trump on Wednesday.
She began going through the list of succession, ticking off the vice president, the House speaker, the president pro tempore of the Senate until she got down to attorney general.
“Attorney General Barr, do you subscribe to the presidency of Donald Trump after the act of sedition he committed yesterday?” she asked rhetorically.
She then moved onto the Interior secretary.
Barr stepped down on Dec. 14, a week after he contradicted President Trump’s claim that the 2020 election was rife with voter fraud.
Trump announced Barr’s resignation at the same time members of the Electoral College from California certified their results, making Joe Biden the president-elect.
Jeffrey Rosen, the deputy attorney general, was named to replace Barr.
