Manchester United face a nervous wait over the fitness of Aaron Wan-Bissaka after the £50million man was stretchered off during the club's 1-1 draw with Young Boys on Wednesday night.

In the final act of the game, Wan-Bissaka collided with the advertising hoardings in front of the Stretford End. The Englishman was still prone on the turf at the full time whistle, and had to be stretchered off the pitch.

As United supporters filed out of Old Trafford following the Champions League dead rubber, the 24-year-old was taken down the tunnel by medical staff.

In the immediate aftermath, new United interim boss Ralf Rangnick revealed that Wan-Bissaka had suffered: 'Two knocks – one on the knee and one on the wrist.'

The severity of the former Crystal Palace man's injury is not yet known and a spell on the sidelines will be a huge blow for the defender who had been hoping to impress his new boss.

Diogo Dalot came in for the Englishman for United's back-to-back wins over Arsenal and Palace, and the Portuguese's attacking endeavours has won swathes of praise among the United masses.

Dalot has been tipped to thrive under Rangnick and there had been concerns for Wan-Bissaka's place as a guaranteed started for the Red Devils

'I've got to be honest, [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka has got a hell of a job getting back in this team. The same for Luke Shaw,' club legend Rio Ferdinand said on his 5ive podcast. 'They've both got one hell of a job.

'One thing this manager likes is full-backs who can actually play and get on the ball.'

Wan-Bissaka has scored two goals and provided 10 assists during 118 appearances for United and is generally viewed as a defence-first fullback.
