Olympic-Themed Restaurant, Bakery Specials Offered In Alexandria

Restaurants and cafés in Alexandria are offering Olympic-themed specials starting Friday to celebrate the kickoff of the games in Tokyo.

On Saturday, Aug. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m., Barkhaus, a dog-friend bar and restaurant in Alexandria, is holding the “The Dog Games,” featuring dog competitions, food and drink specials and free dog medals.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Restaurants and cafés in Alexandria are holding Olympic-themed specials starting Friday to celebrate the kickoff of the games in Tokyo.

From July 23 to Aug. 8, Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap in Del Ray is serving an Olympic viewing fixed price menu in its Beer Garden & Tap Room, which has five TVs.

Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap’s specials are gold, silver and bronze medal themed.

The Bronze medal special includes any 10-inch pizza and draft beer or glass of Lena's Wine — rose, Cabernet or Pinot Grigio — for $25.

The Silver medal special includes a choice of white bean dip or spinach and artichoke dip plus any 10-inch pizza and beer or glass of Lena's Wine for $37.

The Gold medal special includes a choice of white bean dip or spinach and artichoke dip plus a 10-inch pizza and beer or glass of Lena's Wine and dessert for $47.

Lena’s is located at 401 E. Braddock Street.

Elizabeth’s Counter, located at 804 N. Henry Street in the Braddock Metro/Parker-Gray neighborhood, is offering an Olympic Donut starting July 23. The donut is a vanilla-glazed donut sprinkled with a blend of red, white, blue and gold and silver stars.

On Saturday, Aug. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m., Barkhaus, a dog-friend bar and restaurant, is holding the “The Dog Games,” featuring dog competitions, food and drink specials and free dog medals. A portion of the event proceeds will support the Special Olympics.

Barkhaus is located at 529 E. Howell Avenue in Alexandria.

NBC will be providing a live morning broadcast of the Tokyo Olympics opening Ceremony on Friday. With Tokyo 13 hours ahead of the East Coast of the United States, the Opening Ceremony begins at 8 p.m. in Japan, which is 7 a.m. ET.
