Katie Holmes’s recent style signatures – insouciant wide-leg trousers, look-at-me zebra stripe boots, figure-hugging ruched dresses and that internet-crashing cashmere bralette and peekaboo cardigan – have a common thread. Since 2019, the NYC style icon has been infatuated by the ultra-luxe designs of Khaite’s Catherine Holstein.
“Something’s wrong with Instagram, it’s glitching,” was Holstein’s first thought, when three years ago, she posted an image of Holmes wearing the label’s cashmere set as she strode across a Manhattan street. So great was the response, Holstein assumed her brand’s profile page had crashed.
Presumedly, Khaite has noted an engagement spike after Holmes co-hosted the opening of two Barbara Sturm boutiques sporting the ultimate in the brand’s buttery double leather. Holmes swapped her daytime wardrobe of girl-next-door denim for something a little more sleek and seductive, wearing a pair of the brand’s Leon pants and its oversized silver snap button shirt.
Not only stacked with everyday acid-wash and multi-hued denim, Holmes’s wardrobe is packed with luxuriously tactile textures: chunky corduroy, touch-me tweed and fluid silks. Khaite’s impossibly soft two-piece is one to rival its cashmere twin set. Seeing double has never looked more chic.
