Since winning our hearts in her role as Daphne Bridgerton, Phoebe Dynevor has been busy building her identity outside of the beloved Netflix series. She's a regular on the red carpet, becoming known for her timeless and elegant style choices (case in point, the one sleeved black gown she wore at last year's BAFTAs). She's an ambassador for international charity Action Aid,   using her platform to raise awareness for women and girls living in poverty. She's also a total beauty girl, known for her classic Hollywood glamour and stunning strawberry-coloured hair

Fittingly, she has just been announced as the new ambassador for WeDo/ Professional, a new eco-ethical haircare brand that aims to help us all achieve a healthier and more sustainable haircare routine. Here, in her first interview in her new role, Phoebe Dynevor speaks to GLAMOUR UK about all things empowerment, makeup and, of course, maintaining her signature hair shade.

“Wearing wigs at work gives my hair a day off”

One of the (many) reasons we love Bridgerton is the tumbling updos and classical, cascading curls worn by every lady of the ton. While decadent, Phoebe reveals that she's often wearing wigs when she's on set. “For work, I might be in a wig, so it’s easier not to wash my hair on those days,” she says. “But I am always keeping it clean and trying to maintain the health, and appreciate not having to dry it with heat if I don’t have to.”

“Plus, when my hair isn't needed on camera, I love putting oils on the the ends and despite myths, I like putting oil into the roots too, in order to keep it healthy from root to end. I also love using hair masks, the Moisture and Shine Mask from WeDo/ a game changer.”

“I'd love to go platinum blonde”

Phoebe's signature hair colour is a strawberry terracotta shade, but that's not to say she isn't tempted by the prospect of other hues: “I feel very lucky to be able to experiment so much with my hair for work and not only length but colour too,” she says. “I was blonde for some time while filming Younger and I loved that change but I have always had more red tones to my natural hair so going back to my ‘roots’ has been nice and even elevating that to a more copper tone too.”

“Let’s see where the next role takes me, but I am certainly open to experimenting – perhaps platinum blonde. I would love to do that. Who knows, I am up for anything," she adds.

“I've had some dodgy hair styles”

We've all had at least one rogue haircut experience, whether it was trusting a trainee at the hair salon or attempting a DIY chop at home – and that even applies to celebrities. “I feel like we have all had some dodgy hair styles at some stage, we are all exploring, especially when we are younger and finding our feet with what suits and sometimes getting it so wrong,” Phoebe says. “I once cut myself bangs, it was not good.”

No matter how bad, Phoebe swears she has no regrets and won't let the experience deter her from further experimenting. “I haven’t really had a style I regret and I am keen to try new styles. I would love to rock a mullet!”

Platinum blonde mullet? We're into it.

“I can't go without my eyebrow makeup"

As well as her hair, Phoebe is also known for her porcelain skin and timeless makeup looks (think soft smoky eye, great contour and a balmy, neutral lipstick). However, when it comes to her favourite products, Phoebe is quick to pick favourites.

“Definitely my eyebrow colour and brush (I use Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows), my Sunday Riley Light Hearted Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen (which isn't available here in the UK yet but when it is, it's a must have!) and WeDo/ Moisturising Day Cream, which is like a moisturiser for my hair.  It’s amazing for keeping it soft and healthy and you don’t need to wash it out as it’s non-greasy.”

“The key to self care is sleep”

While she's tried the more vigorous self care options ("I did an intense bootcamp once, which was wild amounts of exercise that I am not sure I was cut out for"), Phoebe swears by one simple self care ritual – sleep

“Sleep is definitely the best self care ritual, especially with night shoots and early call times," she says. "It also helps to make you feel at your most empowered as it helps you give everything you do 110%. Then if you fail, you can hold your head high knowing you tried your best."
