Trump hints he may fire Dr. Fauci after the election

President Trump late Sunday hinted that he may fire White House coronavirus task force member Dr. Anthony Fauci after the election.

The president went on the riff while speaking about the pandemic during his fifth rally of the day in Opa-locka, Florida.

As Trump lamented news coverage of the virus, the crowd erupted into a “Fire Fauci” chant.

After the crowd simmered down, Trump said: “Don’t tell anybody, but let me wait ’til a little bit after the election.

“I appreciate the advice,” Trump said, to roaring cheers.

Trump added that Fauci has “been wrong a lot,” but said the nation’s leading infectious diseases expert is “a nice man.”

The threat to fire Fauci comes as Trump’s administration has grown displeased with the doctor’s recent public comments praising Joe Biden and sounding the alarm over a winter COVID-19 outbreak.
