‘Loved by many’: Teen fatally shot inside Tarrant home now identified

Authorities have released the name of a teen killed inside a Tarrant home.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Brent Brown. He was 18 and lived in Birmingham.

“Brent was kind and cool and was fun to be around,’’ said Jabari Watson, who had been friends with him since they were just 6 years old. “He was the life of the party.”

Brown was a senior in an online high school and set to graduate at the end of this school year.

“He was always there for everyone,’’ Watson said. “He had a strong mind, was a solid person, and he was loved by many.”

A teen was shot to death Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 in Tarrant.

Tarrant police responded to a residence at the corner of Hall Street and Jackson Boulevard just before 2 p.m. Thursday. Brown was found unresponsive inside and pronounced dead on the scene at 2:14 p.m.

A neighbor reported hearing about four shots.

Mayor Wayman Newton said the shooting stemmed from a domestic incident. The suspect is reportedly in the hospital with an undisclosed injury.

No additional information has yet been released.

Brown is Tarrant’s fourth homicide of 2021. In all of Jefferson County there have been 168 homicides, including the four in Tarrant.
