Queen Elizabeth II will enter an eight-day period of mourning following the death Friday of her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip.
During this time, Her Royal Highness, 94, will not carry out her royal duties and affairs of state will also be paused, according to the UK’s Metro.
After the eight days, the entire royal family will enter a 30-day royal mourning period, with guardsmen wearing black armbands on their uniforms.
Philip’s death will also plunge the country into 10 days of grieving.
Details of Philip’s funeral are not yet known, but it’s believed his body won’t lie in state as part of a state funeral — since the Duke of Edinburgh didn’t want all the “fuss.”
The 99-year-old royal died Friday at his home at Windsor Castle, where he and the Queen had been staying during the COVID-19 lockdown.
His dying wish was to pass away peacefully at home, sources told The Post.
