A Texas mother was arrested for child endangerment after leaving her son to wander a busy intersection in extreme heat as punishment for dropping food in their car, according to authorities.
Kesa Brown, 44, was arrested Saturday after authorities discovered her 10-year-old son walking alone on a busy road “during heavy traffic time,” the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 wrote Sunday. It was also a hot day with temperatures over 100 degrees.
The young boy told Constable Deputies that Brown “made him get out of the vehicle after he accidentally dropped food” and left him unattended on the road.
Brown cited her invalid driving license as her reason for not contacting authorities about the incident.
Child Protective Services were contacted and the boy left with a guardian who came to the scene.
At the time of the incident, Brown was out on bond from another case concerning the same child, though the Harris County Constable’s office could not give the Daily News additional details.
Records show that Brown was booked into Harris County Jail on Monday with a $15,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on August 12.
