TINLEY PARK, IL — A Hazel Crest man was arrested after he shot a female real estate agent with a stun gun during an open house in Tinley Park, prosecutors said. Stanley Keller, 50, appeared before Cook County Judge John Mahoney on felony charges of attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Keller was the first and only visitor at an open house Sunday afternoon in the 6700 block of West 181st Street in Tinley Park. The prosecutor said Keller grabbed some brochures and asked to see the upstairs bedrooms. After briefly viewing the bedrooms, Keller asked the woman to show him the basement and the garage.

The agent said she felt something vibrate behind her. She claimed that her body felt “weird” and her speech became slurred. When she turned around, Keller allegedly had his arm extended. The two began to struggle, but the real estate agent got away. The prosecutor said that she ran up the stairs of the tri-level home, screaming for someone to call the police, the prosecutor said.

Some passers-by chased Keller to his car. Tinley Park police arrived and arrested Keller, who was sitting in his car with the door open, the prosecutor said. The officers reported finding a stun gun was in Keller’s car. Keller allegedly admitted to poking the real estate agent with the stun gun. He was taken to the Tinley Park police station where the prosecutor said an unsoiled condom dropped out of his pants leg.

The prosecutor said that Keller was convicted of armed robbery in 1991, where he was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Keller has an associate’s degree and is currently on disability for advanced Parkinson’s disease. He said that Keller carries the stun gun for his protection. The real estate agent backed into the stun gun, and that Keller ran out after her “out of concern,” the lawyer said.

“I did advise him that carrying a stun gun was illegal,” the assistant public defender said.

“I’m glad you helped him see the light,” Mahoney said.

The judge said that he found the facts of the case "disgusting" and set bail at $1 million. Keller is up for a bond review on April 15. Keller’s next court date is May 6 in Bridgeview.
