Alpharetta, Roswell Named Safe Cities In U.S.: Report

Alpharetta and Roswell have recently been ranked as prime areas for safety in the "2019 Safest Cities in the U.S." report by Reviews.com.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- In Alpharetta, your chances of becoming a victim of a violent crime is one in 1,962, and in Roswell that drops to one in 885, according to recent data released from Reviews.com.

Analysts set out to determine which cities are the safest, poring over data from the FBI and the U.S. Census Bureau to create its annual list of the Safest Cities in the U.S.

Cities were analyzed on the following criteria:

  • Violent Crime - The number of violent crime incidents (i.e. murder, rape, and robbery) per 10,000 residents
  • Property Crime - The number of property crime incidents per 10,000 residents
  • Likeliness of being a victim - The number of crimes committed between 2015 and 2017 for each city

Alpharetta, with a population of 66,711, ranked 21st for safety. Reviews.com gave it a total crime score of 5.7 due to 34 violent crimes and 1,187 property crimes in the data. While chances of becoming a victim of a violet crime are one in 1,962, those chances increase to one in 56 of a property crime in Alpharetta.
