Here’s something to be thankful for: The average cost of a Thanksgiving dinner didn’t go up this year.

In fact, it went down. For 10 people, the average cost is $49.12. That’s 75 cents less than last year.

In Ohio, WKYC’s Danielle Serino was able to buy a dinner for less at some places — higher at others. The big difference is whether you want fresh or frozen and packaged foods.

But like our wine test last week, where we found expensive does not always mean better, there are deals to be had. And your best bet is to mix and match at different stores.

Cranberries.

Green beans.

Sweet potatoes.

They’re just some of the Thanksgiving dinner essentials.

But where you shop makes a big difference in price, perks and freshness. So to help you plan out your dollars and your day, we searched for the same list of items:

  • A 16-pound turkey
  • Gravy
  • Dinner rolls
  • Cornbread stuffing
  • Pumpkin pie
  • Whipped cream
