LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA—Authorities investigating two incidents of suspicious strangers approaching children in the area the past several days have found that the most recent turned out to be innocent contact, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. In both cases, the strangers were in vehicles.

That one was Saturday, April 6, in Ashburn in the area of Fowlers Mills Circle and Bruceton Mills Circle. Around 12:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the scene for a reported suspicious driver. The driver motioned to the complainant's children to come toward his vehicle. The kids didn't comply and didn't speak with the driver, who was in an older model Honda Odyssey that was either gray/silver or light blue.

The complainant then spoke with the driver, who asked for directions. After that, the man continued to drive through the neighborhood. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office later identified the driver and determined there was no suspicious activity. The driver was seeking directions in the area after visiting a home in the community, LCSO spokesman Kraig Troxell said Tuesday.

The other incident was April 4 in the 16400 block of Purcellville Road. A resident's children were playing outside around 4 p.m. when the youngest walked toward the end of the driveway. The driver of a light green Kia Soul with heavily tinted windows stopped and opened the door. When the other kids approached, the driver left the area.

Anyone with information that might be related to the second incident is urged to contact police at 703-777-0407.
