STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Recently-elected Assemblyman Michael Tannousis (R-East Shore/South Brooklyn) was sworn in Monday during a small ceremony on Staten Island.

Tannousis’ wife, Anna, and his parents, Kate and Tony, joined the new assemblyman for the small ceremony at the office of Richmond County Clerk Stephen Fiala.

“I was honored to be sworn in as a Member of the Assembly yesterday alongside my wife and family,” Tannousis said. “I look forward to getting to work and fighting for the safety, prosperity, and improving the quality of life for the residents of the 64th Assembly District.”

The former prosecutor in the Bronx and on Staten Island handily won his election in November against Brandon Patterson, a longtime aide to State Sen. Diane Savino (D-North Shore/Brooklyn)

Tannousis replaced Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/South Brooklyn), who was required to vacate her long-held Assembly seat due to her successful run for Congress.
