A road in Bewdley is set to be closed for almost five weeks.

According to the Worcestershire County Council website, Severn Side North will be closed at its junction with Load Street near Bewdley Bridge from Monday (April 28).

There is a valid permit in place until Sunday (June 1).

The closure is needed to facilitate masonry repairs to the parapets and wing wall following a collision.

The road closure will enable space for the work to be completed and scaffolding to be put in place.

A planning application for the work, which was approved by Wyre Forest District Council, said the parking bays will be suspended along Load Street adjacent to the works to accommodate contractors' vehicles and material deliveries.

The planning statement said: "Safe pedestrian access to be provided along Severn Side North/Dog Lane for the duration of the works."

The one-way system to Severn Side North/Dog Lane will also be suspended whilst the work is being carried out to enable access for residents and businesses.

Delays are likely whilst the work is being carried out and drivers are advised to plan ahead of any journeys.

Emergency access will be maintained at all times.

There is a diversion in place via Load Street, Dog Lane, Dowles Road, Dog Lane and Severn Side North (part).
