FARGO - The countdown has started on the opening of Sandy’s Donuts & Coffee Shop in The Shoppes at Osgood shopping center.

The third shop for the popular purveyor of fried, frosted and filled doughnuts will open Sept. 10, owner Mark Ostlund has confirmed.

Flooring was being installed this last week at 4281 45th St. S, and equipment will be moved into the 2,300-square-foot shop over the next two weeks, Ostlund said.

He couldn’t say if there will be special events or doughnut offerings as part of the opening.

“We’re so busy we haven’t had a chance to make a whole lot of plans,” he said. “We haven’t had time to delve into the fun part yet.”

Ostlund is renting space in the 4,000-square-foot building, just across from the SouthTown PourHouse.

Earlier, Ostlund said he originally hoped to open the shop by the end of July, but there were issues that caused the construction timetable to slip.

The doughnuts will be made at the flagship West Fargo shop at 310 Main Ave. W. That shop also produces the delightful doughy rings for the Sandy’s at 300 Broadway in downtown Fargo.
